Picture this: you’re driving your car, your friends are with you, you’re all jamming out to some good music when suddenly your CD changes or your MP3 player skips and one completely random, off-the-wall song comes on. Your friends stare at you awkwardly and you’re forced to explain why you have the song on there in the first place.
Here is where these explanations come to light. I am a firm believer that sticking to one genre is limiting oneself when it comes to any art form, including music. However I have been in these situations more than once and have time and time again come up with explanations for the random songs I listen to. Some reasons are funny, some more personal, but all of them have a story behind them. It’s in this spirit that the blog is named as such: you skip it at first because it isn’t what you’re used to or what you’re looking for, rewind as a sort of musical double-take, and then search for an explanation as to why you have it.
So follow this blog if you’re interested in stories that certain songs may carry or perhaps would just like to listen to something outside of your usual music tastes.
